New Beach Tower for Cottesloe
9 September 2022
Public comment is open on a seven storey apartment tower proposed for Cottesloe's beachfront. Plans for developer and Architect Barry Baltinas’ s project at the former Beaches cafe block were put on the State Development Assessment Unit's website on Friday.
Mr Baltinas submitted the plans for the $27Million project to the SDAU late last year (another beachfront tower for Cott, POST, December 18 2021)
He said he was pleased the project was moving to the next stage. "Unique construction methodology planned for the building will include in-situ concrete form work that will be constructed offsite to create the organic concrete aggregate forms" he said.
Mr Baltinas wants eight apartments with ocean views, space for a ground-floor restaurant of cafe with alfresco, dining, a private roof terrace, 23 bicycle bays and 19 car bays.
He said four apartments would each occupy an entire floor.
"There has been a significant level of interest," he said.
Vehicle access to the Beaches site, and his neighbouring development site at 122 Marine Parade (originally developer Gary Dempsey’s project), would be via Napier Street.
